Windmill Microlending: Affordable loans for skilled immigrants and refugees

Founded in 2005, Windmill Microlending is Canada’s only national charity offering affordable loans to skilled immigrants and refugees. A Windmill microloan, of up to $15,000, can help you pay for the costs of accreditation, training, certification, qualifying exams, career development courses as well as living expenses and childcare while you study.

Funded by the public and private sectors, Windmill has helped thousands of skilled newcomers achieve their career goals in Canada and rise to their full career potential. In addition to its low-interest loans, Windmill delivers services such as client success coaching, financial training, and a mentorship program.

To be eligible for a Windmill microloan, you must
  • ->Be an immigrant and a Permanent Resident, Protected Person, Convention Refugee, Provincial Nominee, or Canadian Citizen
  • ->Be an internationally-trained individual who has completed post-secondary education outside of Canada and/or has a minimum of one year of post-secondary work experience before coming to Canada
  •  

    Be living in Canada to apply for a loan from Windmill Microlending

    No Canadian credit history is required to secure a Windmill microloan.
